The most recent model from Kia is exclusively available in Canada and not in the United States.

Kia has announced the introduction of the EV5, an all-new electric vehicle designed specifically for the Canadian market within the compact SUV segment. This vehicle aims to facilitate the adoption of electric cars by addressing affordability issues prevalent in the automotive sector. The EV5 is expected to feature a modern design, a refreshed interior, and the benefits of Kia's popular SUV lineup, all while electricity-powered.

As the automotive industry moves toward electric vehicle ownership, David Sherrard, Director of Strategic Planning at Kia Canada, remarked that the launch of the EV5 represents an essential milestone in Kia's efforts to deliver accessible mobility options. This is in response to the fact that the adoption of electric vehicles is becoming increasingly prevalent. By 2026, it is anticipated that the EV5 will be available for purchase at dealerships in Canada.

The design of the EV5 is based on Kia's design philosophy known as 'Opposites United,' particularly inspired by the 'Bold for Nature' concept. The vehicle's exterior will showcase confident lines and a robust stance, drawing similarities to the EV9 model.

Distinctive features include Kia's signature grille and a unique lighting pattern, contributing to its road presence. The EV5 will be offered in eight colour options, including two new shades: Magma Red and Frost Blue.

Inside, the EV5 aims to blend sportiness with luxury. It will incorporate soft-touch materials and a minimalist design, utilizing environmentally friendly materials consistent with other Kia electric vehicles. The cabin will feature a nearly 30-inch panoramic screen that provides access to various functionalities. It will accommodate five passengers comfortably, with ample legroom and shoulder space. The interior will also include adjustable mood lighting and sufficient storage options, including a flat-folding second-row seat and additional front trunk space.

The EV5 will offer customers a choice of two battery sizes: a standard range of 60.3 kWh and an extended range of 81.4 kWh. Buyers can select from various trim levels, with options for both front-wheel and all-wheel drive, catering to diverse driving preferences and conditions in Canada. Furthermore, the EV5 will be compatible with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, providing access to a nationwide expanded network of DC fast charging stations.
